Wedding Ideas

My sister was just married. I did some of the decorating for the day. I had a really hard time finding ideas I liked on the internet, so I thought I'd post what I came up with, and how we decoarted...just incase anyone else is helping with a wedding in the near future! Sorry, a non kid related post!

Simple tulle and blue ribbon with small cala's for the "aisle" decorations. We tied the tulle around every other chair, and it gave the effect we were going for:

Table Centerpieces: The florist gave me "curly willow" which I then painfully formed into circles. The florist say it would be easy...it was NOT. I had to call a neighbor way too late at night to help me. Our hands were bleeding...but they turned out nice! Then, the day before, we added the greenery, and the day of, sprinkled a few flowers on the vines.

I did see the "Mr. and Mrs." things somewhere, online, but recreated them. I thought it was a fun touch for a formal dinner.

Thank you sign on the gifts table:

TV screen. My brother saw something similar at a wedding, so we recreated it. My husband got us the glass, and sandblasted one side. We then put the projector behind the screen, with the sandblast side of the glass closest to the projector. My husband built us some small wood blocks to help us acheive the "Frameless" look. It was really cool...and it showed a slideshow of the bride and groom during the mingle hour.

Table Names: Instead of numbering the tables 1,2,3,etc. We tried something a little different. We used words that meant something to the bride and groom. So, for example we had the "empire" table, and tucked in the napkin place settings at the empire table, was the story of the groom proposing to the bride on the "empire state building". It gave the guests something to read and perhaps helped them get to know the bride and groom a little better.

Platter made for the buffet table:

I LOVE the table names idea! Unfortunately, I'm not helping to plan any weddings in the near future. Then again, my sis-in-law IS starting at BYU next month, so you never know! :)

I am so bummed to hear about the pigs! Everything I've read said that they don't stink, but I wonder if the people saying that are SO used to the pig smell, they don't even notice it anymore. So, they stink really bad, like how? Like bad gas? Like wet dog?

Kai is really, really afraid of dogs, so I thought I should try a pet without sharp teeth and ease him in. I think Dave and Melissa were thinking of goats - maybe I'll just wait and see how you guys' pets go! Good luck with the chickens!
